Request the lighting of prayer candles at St. George Church

A burning candle is:

An adoration of God’s incarnate image, a lingering fervent supplication, a good sacrificial act and a revelation of the heart’s desire. “God both honors the work and praises the intention.”  ~ St. John Chrysostom

March 23 Homepage Announcement from Fr Anthony Sabbagh

Dear beloved parishioners and friends of St. George,

Christ is among us, He is and ever shall be! Together, during this evolving situation with the COVID-19 virus, let us continue to pray for the world, our church family and ourselves, as we strive to be a source of peace and serenity.

In keeping with Lent, which is about sacrificing, let us love and serve one another by laying aside our earthly cares and our own desires for the common good.

It is with a heavy heart that we must refrain from practicing our shared prayer services within our church building. Sacrificing our gathering together in these very different times actually means caring, compassion and preservation of life. Please continue to follow guidance on social distancing from the CDC, World Health Organization and government officials.

We will be producing videos and articles and starting conversations/chats to help you apply our Orthodox faith to the rapidly changing COVID-19 developments so that we may adapt together as a St. George family.  Please continue to visit our website and Facebook page as we make weekly updates to content.

Yours in Christ,

Very Rev. Anthony G. Sabbagh and Staff
